WEEK 1 - JUNE 9 - 12
Playing With Fire!!! Spend the week learning to become a jeweler! You will learn the basics necessary to create professional looking fabricated jewelry. You will make a textured stamped band ring and a beautiful forged "wave " bracelet. COME PLAY WITH FIRE! (safely, of course ) Join us for this wonderful opportunity.
WEEK 2 - JUNE 16 - 19
MAGIC WANDS AND RAINSTICKS Get in touch with your inner guru and materialize some art man! Students woll use a wide variety of materials to make their personal tools of empowerment. They will embellish them with metal, glass, ceramics, felt and paint. Once completed the students will" bless" their sacred tools in a mini "drum circle" and incense burning ceremony.
WEEK 3 - JUNE 23 - 26
COLOR YOUR WORLD ! Enameling and resin will be the" paint" that adds color to your artwork. Enameling ( fusing glass on metal) is an ancient technique. The use of colored resins is a contemporary one. Explore both in this exciting class. Found objects, photographs, and trinkets can be used to accent your artwork.
WEEK 4 - JUNE 30 - JULY 3
KEEP IT COOL MAN !! - COLD CONNECTED JEWELRY - Tabs, rivets, and prongs, OH MY! Learn to make jewelry without the use of heat. We will learn to drill holes, shape our pieces and rivet, tab, or stitch our parts together to create beautiful and professional pieces of jewelry. Don't miss out on this fun-filled class.
WEEK 5 - JULY 7 - JULY 10
MAKE SOME NOISE !!! - Students will create unique metal noisemakers. Explore wire working techniques, metal forming and cold-connections in this unusual opportunity. Using found objects and anything else that can produce a variety of sounds, you will make a grouping of fun noisemakers that will liven up any party. Don't miss this one!
WEEK 6 - JULY 14 - 17
MIXED MEDIA MADNESS - "THE MIRROR" - In this fun class, we will use a wide variety of exciting materials to create an heirloom mirror. You can bring in your favorite rock, shell or make a drawing to use in your mirror. We will be using shrink art, glass mosaic techniques, and some very unusual materials to make a one-of-a-kind project. Join in the fun!!!
WEEK 7 - JULY 21 - JULY 24
GOOD LOOKS AND CHARM TOO!!! - Charms and Charm Bracelets - A great class for the Divas and Fashionistas! We will create a variety of personalized charms and the charm bracelet too. Basic metalworking techniques will be used including stamping and shaping. Riveting and other cold-connection processes will be used to make charms or links for your bracelet. Leather strips or cords will also be used for one of your creations.
WEEK 8 - JULY 28 - JULY 31
JUST CLAYING AROUND!!! - This class will explore the use of polymer clay as a medium to create jewelry and small sculptures. We will learn to make "canes" to form repeated images or patterns. We will create an armature for our sculptures. The students will use their imaginations to form just about anything from the functional to the purely decorative. Jewelry, beads, figurines and mini-sculptures are just a few of the possibilities. What are your ideas? Let's explore them together.
WEEK 9 - AUGUST 4 - AUGUST 7
HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU BABY!!! - Mirrors and picture frames are the ultimate accessory for every room. We will create 2 fabulous mirrors or picture frames to show off your personal style.One will be out of metal and the other will be out of fused glass. You will learn basic glass fusing and cutting techniques as well as metalworking skills to make these great projects. Keep them for yourself or give them away to someone special.
WEEK 10 - AUGUST 11 - 15
GARDEN GUARDIAN - Does your backyard need some fun things to liven it up? Create a copper figure, human or not, to stand guard over your outside world. Metalworking as well as glass fusing skills will be used to make your one-of-a-kind guardian!
